Abstract

In this experimental study, an integrated collector storage solar water heater with mixed asphalt absorber plate has been designed and manufactured at “Sood-Kamphaeng”. It consists of a clear glass cover, an absorber plate made from mixed asphalt, storage tank and insulations. A clear glass cover has a thickness of 10 mm. An absorber area is 1 m2 and a thickness of 5 cm. The storage tank contains 100 L of water corresponding to 100 kg of water. The insulation composed of 3 inch of foam and 10 mm of PE foam with foil (one side). The measured data showed the maximum water temperature in the storage tank is about 63°C, which was higher than the water temperature for human bath (37-42°C). Experimental data were analyzed to assess thermal performance of an integrated collector storage solar water heater with mixed asphalt absorber plate. The result showed that, the hourly and mean daily efficiency without load were ranged 20-62% and 43.5%, respectively. The result above pointed out that the integrated collector storage solar water heater with mixed asphalt absorber plate is high thermal performance.

Finally, an integrated collector storage solar water heater with mixed asphalt absorber plate is highly recommended, and shoul be promoted to be a part of building component.
